Since July 2010, Ealing’s Borough Commander is Chief Superintendent Andy Rowell. He attends the ECPCG meeting this week. Having lived and worked in Ealing for many years, he knows the Borough well and acknowledges the challenges he faces, in particular the increase in street robberies. He has clear ideas on policing, expecting his officers to be proactive, firm and fair and proud of what they do. A people person and straight talker, he recognises the cycle of crime around drugs and alcohol and the importance of officers being out and about. He has cut back the paper work for Safer Neighbourhood Teams and halved the number of meetings. He believes that Anti-Social Behaviour Orders are just one tool in reducing crime. The financial squeeze will force different agencies to co-operate.
